UNSGSA Queen Máxima to Champion Digital Public Infrastructure, Financial Health at IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings

H.M. Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA), will head to Washington D.C. on 13-14 April 2023 to participate in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG).

The UNSGSA is expected to deliver remarks at a pair of events while in attendance.

This includes the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth and the Aspen Institute 2023 Global Inclusive Growth Summit on 13 April, where Queen Máxima will have the opportunity to highlight the importance of financial health and resilience in the context of financial inclusion. It will be live streamed starting shortly after 4pm EST (click here to register and learn how to view).

On 14 April, the Special Advocate will deliver opening remarks for a seminar on how digital public infrastructure (DPI) can support a more inclusive, equitable society. Her Majesty’s speech is expected to emphasize the need for DPIs to be inclusive, safe and enable the delivery of services across sectors. The UNSGSA will set the stage for a panel discussion with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and several other prominent voices. Throughout the two-day visit, Queen Máxima is slated to hold a series of bilateral meetings with key policymakers and partners, including members of the UNSGSA Reference Group comprised of leading international organizations in financial inclusion. High on the agenda across these meetings will be digital public infrastructure, fintech sector development, financial health, and inclusive green finance.
