UNSGSA Queen Máxima to Attend Llao Llao Forum in Argentina

Her Majesty Queen Máxima, in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA), will attend the 11th Llao Llao Forum in Bariloche, Argentina, on Wednesday, April 29, and Thursday, April 30. This private forum focuses on economic development opportunities for Argentina and the region.

Over the course of the two-day visit, UNSGSA Queen Máxima will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of banks, fintech companies, and technology platforms. She will also meet with investors and companies in the agricultural sector. Dialogue will focus on integrating financial health into corporate strategy and operations to support market growth and value creation.

On Thursday, the UNSGSA will participate in a fireside chat, speaking with one of the founders of the Llao Llao Forum. They will discuss how the financial system can promote financial health, helping people to better manage their day-to-day expenses, build resilience to shocks, plan to meet short- and long-term goals, and gain confidence in their futures. They will also examine how employers can support employees’ financial health, for example through automated savings programs and budgeting tools leveraging behavioral science.

This visit comes shortly after the UNSGSA's engagement at the Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C., where she participated in a fireside chat at the Inter-American Development Bank on opportunities and challenges for financial health in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Above all, UNSGSA Queen Máxima's message for the Llao Llao forum is that financial health is not just good for individuals or households; it is good for Argentina’s economy, and for the economy of the region.
