Paolo Galli Appointed as the Interim Director of UNSGSA Office

Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands is pleased to welcome Mr. Paolo Galli as the Interim Director of the Office of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA). Mr. Galli will assume the leadership role in supporting Queen Máxima's efforts as the UNSGSA, based in New York. This marks his second tenure as Director of the UNSGSA Office, having previously served in this role from 2013 to 2016.

With an extensive career spanning over 36 years within the UN system, Mr. Galli brings deep expertise in policy, partnerships, and advocacy to the role. His past positions include serving as Senior Advisor for Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza, Senior Partnerships Advisor at the UNDP Washington Representation Office, and Senior Regional Advisor for UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Europe and Central Asia.

Mr. Galli has also served as Director of UN and Multilateral Affairs at UNDP, Director of the Office of the UN Deputy Secretary-General, and Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict. His extensive UN experience also encompasses diverse roles covering the Western Balkans, Afghanistan, and West Africa.

Mr. Galli is an Italian national. Before joining the United Nations, he worked in the financial sector in London.
